Mooroolbark 0 – 3 Fitzroy City   [halftime 0-1]
Att: 300

Mooroolbark came into the game wanting to make up for the shock defeat against Ashburton from the week before.  Unfortunately the boys came out playing like they did in the second half against Ashburton.  Fitzroy were on top from the start with our midfield struggling to find a way into the game.  It was no suprise that Fitzroy took the lead.  From a free kick the ball was not cleared and a Fitzroy attacker fired the ball into the bottom corner.  Mooroolbark created little chances and looked to only bomb long balls into the box against defenders that were taller than our forwards.  It was lucky that the boys were only 1-0 down going into halftime.  The boys started the second half better than they played in the first, which really wasn't hard to do.  Milan came onto the left for Dougie who went off injured.  The boys stared showing glimpses of the football they are capable enough but still wasn't good enough to have chances on goal.  Then a Barker's defender thought one of their winger was a slut and tried to nutmeg him.  Unfortunately he wasn't which led to Niall being left stranded by a brilliantly chipped goal that still would of scored even if Niall was 10 foot tall.  Mooroolbark still went for it, still not giving up and went for more attacking options with Housey coming on for Chimpy.  Mooroolbark searched in vain for goals and came unstuck near the end with Niall giving a penalty away.  Mark earnt himself a second yellow for dissent at the decision.  Mooroolbark ended the game 3-0 losers to extend the losing streak to two.

Mooroolbark 3 – 4 Ashburton   [halftime 1 - 1]
Att: 250

THE WINNING STREAK ENDS IN HIGH SCORING AFFAIR

The boys went out to keep their winning streak against an Ashburton side wanting revenge after their loss to us earlier in the season.  Mooroolbark was against the wind in the first half but was having the better of the play, creating several chances that should have gone into the back of the net.  Ashburton took the lead through a dubious penalty against Jacko.  The boys reacted strongly, equalising soon after with a deft header by Mark Findlay over the keeper head.  At half time the game was at 1-1 with the barkers having the wind in the second half.  The boys started strongly again in the second half and took the lead quickly with Tim scoring a beauty from the left hand side.  After that goal, Ashburton threw caution into the wind and started attacking with more numbers.  The plan succeeded with Ashburton equalising with a run down the left and then grabbing the lead from a long range free kick.  Mooroolbark hit back with a nicely taken header by Housey from Milan’s free kick.  The boys looked for the win but Ashburton took the lead again following a mistake to make it 4-3.  The boys bitterly disappointed with a loss in this high scoring affair.

Mooroolbark 7 – 1 White Star Dandenong   [halftime 4 - 1]

5 IN A ROW – MOOROOLBARK BAGS A BUNCH!

Another win for the barkers in what ended up a complete romp of White Star.  The boys started brilliantly with Milan deflected shot ending up in the back of the net.  The boys kept going, playing beautiful football to create goal scoring opportunities.  Tim slotted one and Trent scored two more to give the Barkers a 4-nil lead before White Star scored a header from a set piece.  Halftime came and went and the Barkers continued to play.  It took 20 minutes for the boys to score again with Keegan scoring one off the bench in a brilliant interchange with Tim.  Trent then popped up to score two more to take his tally to 4 goals for the game.  The boys settling with a comprehensive victory to farewell Monkey and Yan on their respected trips overseas.

Mooroolbark 2 – 1 Rowville Eagles   [halftime 1 - 1]
Att: 250

4 IN A ROW – THANKS TO GOOD GOALS!

Another win for the barkers considering they really only played for 60 minutes of the game.  The boys came out firing from the whistle with a few good passes.  A break started down the left wing for Dougie to put a brilliant cross in with his left foot for Monkey to volley into the back of the net.  Great run from the middle of the park to get onto the end of it.  We continued to press with Tim and Yan shooting over the bar.  Maybe we thought it would be easy or we took the foot off the pedal as Rowville got into the game.  The boys were now second to the ball, the whole team stopped and it wasn’t long that Rowville equalized with a good individual goal.  A wake up call team talk by Denis woke every player up as the second half belong to the barkers.  A few free kicks resulting in chances with Mark missing a header and then making the keeper pull off a save from a free kick.  The winner for the boys came after a badly worked free kick between Mario and Yan came outside the penalty area forTrent to slam home into the back off the net.  Great goal.  The boys held onto another win.

Mooroolbark 1 - 0 Scotch Old Boys    [halftime 1 - 0]
Att: 250

GREAT TEAMWORk - 3 IN A ROW

The barkers showed their great team unity with every player giving their all for the red and white strip.  We came out firing with some great passes between the team resulting in a few opportunities for Yan and Tim that went over the bar.  Dougie was again good up front winning headers and winning supporters!  The midfield controlled the first half with Trent returning to the right side with a brilliant game of running and crossing.  The barkers had the upper hand in the middle with Mark, Monkey and Yan creating chances for other players.  Milan was keeping one of Scotch Old Boys best players from doing anything.  A great free kick from Mario drifted in for Mark to head into the corner to go 1 nil up near half time.  The second half was slightly different with Scotch playing better football and giving us some headaches.  But the defence was brilliant, time and again, either Cookie, Jacko or Mars ended any danger with good tackles, headers or interceptions.  A scare came from a corner that Niall brilliantly saved diving to his left.  Deep into the second half Tim took on 3 defenders to pull off a shot that again just went over the bar before Yan tested the keeper with a great first time volley.  The game came to an end to the relief of the barkers as the last five minutes were defending but we were the better team on the day.
