Mooroolbark- 0 Southern
Suburbs - 3
The winning streak came to end with a shuddering
bump on Sunday!
The boys arrived for the
game in varying states of soberness and this was reflected in
the performance. The home team had
obviously seen the great results the boys had put together in
the first 3 games and were certainly up for
it.Things went wrong
for the visitors in the first few minutes of the game when a
hopeful punt into the box was headed goal wards and somehow
made its way into the net!
The home team
gained some confidence from this early boost and despite a
good deal of possession, the boys started to claw there way
back into the game. A couple of chances which
couldn’t be put away saw the Barkers one nil down at half
time.
Unfortunately the
2nd half didn’t get much better and the home team
which were not the best opposition played this season, started
to dominate the game. Despite some
half chances from set pieces, the boys couldn’t get back into
the game and the home team ran out deserved winners with 2
second half goals (albeit one of which came from a penalty
that never was).
In Summary….playing one
of the better teams in the league after a night on the p*ss is
never good!

Mooroolbark- 5 Brighton- 3
After a long pre-session
of drinking and eating (and more) drinking the first game of
the season is finally here. The lack of games in pre-season
showed in the first half with Brighton going 2-0 up after just 10
minutes, with some poor marking in
defence.
Slowly the barkers started
to get back into the game with Jamo getting the defence into
some sort of order, and the arrival of Phil (Bezza) Berry
coming of the bench for his first game in a year (due to being
the baby of the team).
Just before half time,
barkers pulled a goal back through Phil (Buzzer) Burrows, the
half ended with the barkers going in 2-1
down.
The second half started
pretty much the same way as the first and after about 5
minutes
Brighton went another
goal up.
After this the Barkers
pulled their socks up and started to show their true style. It
wasn’t long before Barkers pulled a goal back through Hillsy
to make it 2-3.
All the pressure the
barkers were putting on
Brighton soon paid off with fine effort
from goal a game, Housey, to make it
3-3.
Then Shakey hit a fine
free kick from 30 out, ok 20, to send the Barkers 4-3
up. Hillsy, finished a fine
display (for a fat bastard), with another goal to make it 5-3.
It was a struggle but the
barkers got there in the
end.
Business as
usual

We got
away to a good solid start; Chappy had his gloves on well
before kick off this
week!
Mooroolbark controlled most of the 1st half
& it only took about 10 minutes before Phil slotted our
1st goal in after a solid team build
up.
A
couple great saves by Chappy while we got ourselves back on
track then the rest of the 1st half was all
Mooroolbark.
With a
solid defence & our midfield knocking the ball around
sweetly it was only a matter of time before we scored again
& Housey put the finishing touches on our next 2 goals.
The new guy ( Wardy ) still adjusting to the size of the
outdoor pitch again put the finishing strike on another solid
team build up to give us a 4 – 0 lead. Jobbers tried to cause
an accident on the monash freeway with a shot that was a
little over the bar, lucky for the second fence they put out
there. A great 1st
half by The Barkers leading 4 –
0
Not
sure the start went to plan? Offside decisions seem to be a
little confusing & Shakey sure asked the ref to
explain!!
Endeavour Hills scored 2 early goals while we got
ourselves settled once again then we started knocking it
around & out played them once
again.
Nice
free kick by Shakey hit right at the keeper who dropped it
& an easy tap in for our
5th.
A
great team effort by all & a well deserved
win.
